Repurposing with a Passion!

http://www.windbagcompany.ca/products/

These are a bit wrinkled, so I will get a better picture in soon. I just wanted to hold a space here, because this is where I am going to add pix of the wonderful things people are repurposing/upcycling/recycling out of recycled materials. These are a pair of mittens I made out of an old cashmere sweater my mother bought probably 50 years ago in Scotland. She wore it well for many years, as did I, until I just couldn't darn it anymore. She was kind of sad when I told her I had cut it up, but the elbows were gone and the cuffs on the sleeves and waistline were fraying and it just wasn't wearable anymore.

I found a great pattern for mittens and made two pairs, one for me and one for a girlfriend. They are decorated with vintage buttons and very simple to make. My mom was happy to see new life out of the old sweater.

More stuff to come -- not just by me!!

Love these: Iridescent insect scuptures from ewaste.
